-Use de for from with singular feminine names beginning with a consonant: 

                                                                   de France, de  Russie, de  Bulgarie,  de Chine 

                                                           Ex: Je viens de   France(I'm coming from  France.)

                                              Tu reviens  de  Turquie. (You're comming back  from Turkey.)

 

-Use  d' for from with singular  names beginning with a vowel

                                                                                          d'  Egypte, d'  Algérie, d'  Italie

                                                                                     Ex: Etes-vous rentré d'   Espagne ?

                                                                                         (Did you come back from Spain?)

               

-Use  du for from with singular  masculine names beginning with a consonant:

                                                                                          du Congo, du Guatémala

                                                                                      Ex: Etes-vous rentré du   Guatémala ?

                                                                                         (Did you come back from Guatemala?)

 


-Use  des for from with plural   names :

                                                                                     Ex: Ils sont originaires des   (îles) Canaries ?

                                                                                         (They are from the Canaries.)
